Pablo Sandoval hit a clutch homer. A Giants fan caught it while holding his baby.

Since rejoining the Giants in 2017, Pablo Sandoval has been… fine? This year, one might even say he’s been good, meaning — like all decent Giants — he is currently languishing in some sort of trade purgatory, the likelihood of his departure swaying back and forth with the outcome of each game.

Last night, he did himself a couple of favors with one swing: not only did his 11th inning solo blast give the Giants a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish, it also made them slightly less likely to move the Panda in a deadline deal.

The Giants are now 53-51, 2.5 games back in the NL Wild Card race. If they lose every game until the trade deadline, the Panda might be on the way out. But if the Giants keep squeezing out extra-innings wins — Friday night’s win over the Padres was their sixth extra-innings win in ten games — Pablo isn’t going anywhere.

TRADE DEADLINE: Farhan Zaidi says fans have confronted him in the streets of SF about trading Madison Bumgarner

So Sandoval’s extra-innings dong was clutch, on a number of levels. But his blast had nothing on what occurred immediately afterward. Roll tape:

Wait, did that dude just catch that homer barehanded while holding a baby?

Let’s slow it down:

That dude just caught that homer barehanded while holding a baby!
