Ron Burgundy, definitely real Anchorman, to call Sharks-Kings game in LA

Live from Los Angeles, 120 miles north of his home base of San Diego, famed “Anchorman” Ron Burgundy will be on special assignment Thursday calling the hockey game between the L.A. Kings and the San Jose Sharks at 7:30 p.m.

Burgundy (okay, Will Ferrell) will crash the Fox Sports West booth with Kings broadcasters Alex Faust and Jim Fox during the second period of the game.

It’s tough to say how knowledgable Burgundy is about the game, but Ferrell, at least, is a huge Kings fan who graduated from USC with a degree in sports journalism.

The appearance may be related to Burgundy’s new project, the aptly-titled Ron Burgundy Podcast. In it, the newsman riffs on all kinds of topics: RuPaul, Ted Cruz (and the Zodiac Killer), meditation, and his own show’s theme song.

Fans are already anticipating Burgundy’s wild game calls, replying to the Kings’ tweet announcing the appearance with … Ron Burgundy gifs.

The game begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night. Let’s just hope no one messes with his teleprompter.
