Curry’s comments came during a press conference after a practice round at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Nevada. He was asked about the departure of his former teammates Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala and the arrival of D’Angelo Russell.
“A lot of changes,” Curry said when asked about the Warriors’ style of play. “It’ll develop as we get together as a group. For us, myself, Klay [Thompson], Draymond [Green], adding D’Angelo [Russell] and a lot of hungry young guys trying to prove themselves, it will look different. But the expectations of how we play, that championship-level basketball, won’t change. I’m excited about it.”
Durant and Andre Iguodala — who played in the same celebrity golf tournament Thursday and shared an embrace with Curry — are two of seven players who are no longer with the Warriors after a flurry of action from the Dubs front office in the first several days of NBA free agency.
Curry told reporters that his time playing with Durant “was special.”
“We accomplished a lot as a group. Everyone talks about all the talent we had on that team, but that doesn’t mean you can put it all together…. Now we try to re-create that.”

He noted that, at 31 years old, he was the oldest person on the Warriors current roster. Iguodala was one of the older players on the team before being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. “I’ve got to step my game up. It’s a tough business. You knew at some point there would be some hard changes,” he said before praising the professionalism of Iguodala and Shaun Livingston, who was waived from the team.
Despite the departures, Curry said that he’ll try to develop chemistry with his new teammate, Russell, quickly. “We’ll be really purposeful about that and try to set the tone how we’ll play this year,” Curry said.
“It’s about encouraging each other and having confidence that we’ll bring the best out of each other. Then when Klay gets back as well, we’ll add him to the backcourt mix. It’s going to be fun.”
