The Twitter account for the sheriff’s department posted about the incident and said the suspect fled on foot and may have jumped into the water surrounding the airport.

The Oakland Police Department and the California Highway Patrol are helping with the search, according to the sheriff’s department.

There is “no active threat to air traffic,” the department wrote.
