The internet is full of Guy Fieri memes. But sometimes Guy Fieri does not wait for someone to meme him. Sometimes he memes himself.
On Tuesday, the celebrity chef from Santa Rosa posted a truly uncanny photoshop of himself as a Raiders coach. With his frost-tipped hair and signature goatee, the image could easily pass as a legit Oakland defensive coordinator circa 2003.
“I’m available if ya need to pickup a Flavor Coordinator,” Fieri wrote, suggesting that being Mayor of Flavor Town is not so all-consuming he can’t add a side gig.
A reverse-image search on Google revealed no other uploads of the image, suggesting Fieri either made it himself or had it purpose-built for Twitter. Because when inspiration strikes, you cannot wait for a random internet stranger to fire up photo-editing software.
We can’t tell which former or current staffer has the honor of providing Guy Fieri with his Raiders body but, if we had to guess, we’d say Tom Cable.
The tweet is no impulse move: The “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” host has been a die-hard Raiders fan since boyhood and regularly attends games and tailgates.
“Growing up here in Northern California … you’re either a Raider fan or a Niner fan,” he said in a recent NFL Network interview. “It was kind of like a line in the sand. Like where did you stand. The era in which I grew up, Jack Tatum, Kenny Stabler, Bo Jackson, you go through the list, you go through the time and the energy, and it was nothing but Raider Nation.”
