Zion Williamson — New Orleans Saints prospect?

Zion Williamson

The top overall pick in June’s NBA draft by the Pelicans could be a two-sport star in New Orleans, said Saints coach Sean Payton. Noting that Williamson’s athleticism and physical stature would make him an NFL prospect as a defensive lineman or tight end, Payton joked on Sirius XM that the Saints thought about using a seventh-round draft choice on Williamson “in case there was a problem across the parking lot.” On Monday, Williamson was included in a quarterback challenge that Saints QB Drew Brees organizes, and he almost threw a football through a basketball hoop from about 50 yards away.

Otto Graham

The Cleveland Browns are honoring the Hall of Fame quarterback with a statue outside FirstEnergy Stadium to be unveiled in September. Graham played 10 seasons with Cleveland, leading the Browns to a title game in each one, winning four All-America Football Conference championships (1946, 1947, 1948, 1949) and three NFL championships (1950, 1954, 1955). Graham died in 2003 at 82. His grandson, Ryan Van Name, got a sneak peak of David L. Deming’s sculpture. “It’s amazing,” Van Name said. “… Right when I walked in it’s like, ‘That’s him. That’s my grandfather.’”
